A discussion regarding the expansion of Matara town in a manner that is more convenient for the public

“A discussion regarding the expansion of Matara town to make it more convenient for the public was held on April 2, 2025, at the Matara District Secretariat.

Accordingly, further discussions were held regarding the establishment of the Matara Administrative Complex in the Kotavila area, the acquisition of land required to expand Matara town, and particularly the development of roads with increased lanes, as well as the obstacles and legal situations pertaining to these matters.

The event was attended by the Minister of Child and Women’s Affairs, Mrs. Saroja Paulraj, the Deputy Minister of Energy, Mr. Arkam Ilyas, the Mayor of the Matara Municipal Council, the Chairman of the Matara Pradeshiya Sabha, the District Secretary of Matara, the Matara Divisional Secretary, and a large number of government officials representing state institutions, including the Urban Development Authority.”
