Organized crime thief member ” Midigama Chooti” to the island

Prabath Madhusankha Rajapaksha Patiranalage, also known as Midigama Chooti, a 38-year-old alleged organized crime gang member and active participant in an international drug network, was brought to the country early today (30th) by a team of special police officers from Oman.

He is accused in several Sri Lankan courts of charges including murder, robbery, possession of firearms, and drug trafficking.

To apprehend Midigama Chooti, Sri Lankan security forces had issued an international red notice, and he was taken into custody by security forces in Oman while staying at a luxury hotel.

Subsequently, a team of Sri Lankan police officers traveled to Muscat, Oman, and early today at 04:27, brought him back to Katunayake Airport on Salam Air flight O.V.-437.

After recording his statement there, steps were taken to transfer him to the Colombo Crime Investigation Department headquarters.
